Etymology:

The epithet means "huckleberry-leaf", from Vaccinium, a genus of huckleberry, + folia ("leaf" in Latin). The original spelling, vaccinifolia, has been corrected to vacciniifolia, in accordance with Article 60.10 of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN).

Nomenclature Note:
